Since its conception in 1957, the International Silver Stick® has grown steadily witht the addition of new age groups, divisions and Regionals. These additions made it necessage to add new Finals Tournaments.

With the ever growing popularity of hockey in the United States, and the fact that Canadian Regionals are concentrated in Ontario, there is potential for new Regional Tournaments in areas not yet represented. It is the goal of the International Silver Stick® Association to introduce the Silver Stick™ to these areas.

Minor hockey organizations interested in applying for a Silver Stick® Regional Qualifying Tournament must submit a Sanction Request Form along with a deposit of $100.00, a minimum of 30 days prior to the Semi-Annual Meeting in January. The organization applying must be a member in good standing of the Hockey Canada or USA Hockey Associations. The organization must also be available at the Annual General or the Semi-Annual Meetings to support their applications. Various statistics and tournament plans will be helpful. Any current Silver Stick® Regional Qualifying Tournament must also apply for expansion to any new age groups or divisions before the Semi-Annual Meeting. The Sanction Committee reviewing the application will take into consideration many factors such as location relative to other Regional Tournaments and capacity at the Finals Tournament.

If the Sanction Request is approved, the organization is required to make a one time sanction fee payment, which is the deposit. The deposit will be returned to unsuccessful applicants. There is an annual fee used to cover Silver Stick® administration expenses. This fee is based on the number of teams playing in the Tournament. All Tournaments pay this fee on a yearly basis.

All International Silver Stick® Tournaments must operate in harmony with the Silver Stick® Constitution, Rules and Directives. This includes minimum attendance at Annual General Meetings. Be advised that tournaments failing to comply will have their sanctions revoked.
